Pulp Tracking

Baling Line & Grader , Pulp Lot Allocation , Customer Quality History ,

The PTPMS is divided into several modules and provides for order entry, production scheduling, sales/budget planning, quality optimized lot assignment, quality data collection from on line sensors and the laboratory, customer quality history, ink-jetting, banding and the recording of production as bales pass through the wrap line. These modules are similar to those in the Roll Tracking System, with the addition of several pulp mill specific modules described below.

Inventory is added to the warehouse then shipped with the proper documentation including shipping manifests, bills of lading and invoices. Multiple (external) warehouses can be managed. Packages are physically and logically transferred from warehouse locations to trucks, to boats or rail cars with wireless terminals (RF) mounted on lift trucks or fixed stations. Transport trucks are checked for proper contracts and weight as they enter and leave the yard. If an RMMS should be installed, (a station at the gatehouse), the system provides for tracking of the weight and totals of re-cycled/OCC materials used by the mill.

All information required to create invoices is retained by the system and invoices are issed by the system. An Accounts/Receivable module manages payments. All actions effecting inventory are written to a transaction table and audit trail. The data base server station is supported by a smart UPS and a monitoring program to provide safe database shutdown in the event of a power failure.

The Baling Line (PLC), Weight Scale and Moisture Sensor are interfaced to a desk top PC normally located in the Dry End Test Station. For the tests done by the Grader (Dirt Count, Brightness etc), there is a custom designed program with graphic displays. The Grader may also view bale inventory and upcoming production plans.

Pulp Lot Allocation Back to Top Back to Top Back to Top

For the situation where pulp lots are produced and then tested for fibre quality characteristics, this module facilitates distribution of the available lots to the planned customer shipments. The module considers both the quality tests and the customer specifications. A support tool is available to optimally distribute the lots so as to minimize overall the deviations from required customer quality.

The screen illustration above shows the basis of pulp lot allocation to customers. Each allocation is equivalent to a shipment (Bill of Lading).
The screen illustration above shows the basis of customer quality specifications. Test results for a particular lot are shown and hi-lited if exceeding specifications.
